Songs for Sirens – a concert series
October 10 @ 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
The Saturna Island Fire Protection Society is delighted to launch Songs for Sirens, a concert series raising funds toward the purchase of a new-to-us ambulance for Saturna’s emergency medical response service – SIR.
The series begins on Saturday, October 10, with an intimate double-headline performance by acclaimed singer-songwriters Adam Beattie and Fiona Bevan at the Saturna Community Hall. We are also delighted that Saturna’s own Ferron will serve as emcee for the evening, guiding us through this special night of music, community and fundraising.
Scottish singer-songwriter and guitarist Adam Beattie is known for his contemporary folk songs, intricate finger-picked guitar and distinctive voice—described as being steeped in “smoke and honey.” A gifted storyteller and “master of powerful narratives,” Adam draws inspiration from the traditional fiddle music of his childhood while exploring themes of family, love, legacy and belonging.
Canadian-British singer-songwriter Fiona Bevan brings a delicate yet passionate voice and a cinematic dream-folk sound to the stage. Her music has been described by The Guardian as creating “startling odysseys,” while ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus has called her work “daring and exciting.” Alongside her own music, Fiona is an accomplished songwriter whose credits include work with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Kylie Minogue, Lewis Capaldi, Aurora, Mika, Tom Walker and Billie Marten.
Together, Adam and Fiona promise an unforgettable evening of beautiful musicianship, captivating storytelling and songs that will feel right at home in the warmth of our Community Hall.
Door open at 6:30 pm and the music begins at 7:00 pm.
Admission is by donation. Tax receipts available upon request for eligible donations.
