Speakeasy

Speakeasy: What is it and am I invited? Speakeasy is a monthly gathering, usually the first Sunday afternoon of the month, wherein everyone may share an original writing of five minutes (or less) in length. It can be poetry, essay, part of a larger work, memoir, short story, comedic monologue, you get the idea.

Speakeasy has been in existence for around 30 years here on Pender. We have met variously at someone’s home, a restaurant, the Library, Hope Bay, the parking lot at Medicine Beach stores (in the summer once!), the Winery, and now at the Legion. We are a movable feast of words.

Speakeasy is a comfortable and safe place to share your writing. There is no critique, no judgment, just an appreciative audience! Also, there is no obligation to read. So come bring a friend and something to read, or simply enjoy the work of others. See you there!
