The Third Annual Indigenous Peoples Weekend is an opportunity to celebrate the rich and diverse Indigenous culture on Salt Spring Island, and a chance for settlers to meet and celebrate alongside their Indigenous neighbours. This year, we’ll be at the Farmers’ Institute , and we’ve been working hard to bring together a range of entertainment and activities so you and the whole family can come, park, and make a day of it!
As in previous years, we’ll have our beautiful tipi-raising Opening Ceremony followed by our community potluck honouring our Elders, musicians, dancers, puppet shows, storytelling, an Indigenous crafts market, craft workshops for the whole family, a silent auction to support the Q’ushin’tul’ (Walking Together) Ancestors Walk event and so much more.
We’ll be updating our schedule as it progresses on our website, Facebook, and Instagram.
Want to get involved? There are opportunities to Volunteer, Donate, Sponsor and Billet. As a volunteer-run organization, we rely on the support of the community to make this important event happen, and whether you’re motivated by community, reconciliation, or philanthropy, we are so happy to welcome you to our happy team in whatever way feels best for you. Please visit the Supporters page on our website for more information, including contact information so you can chat with us!
HÍSW̱KE! Huy ch q’u! Maarsi! Miigwech! Mahalo! Thank you for being a part of this celebration!
